The research was done in cooperation by scientists from the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Vienna), the Vienna University of Technology (TU Vienna) and the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) and is part of the research project WWW.forEurope.eu.

The WU Vienna (established in 1898) and TU Vienna (founded in 1815) are Austria’s largest business university and university of technology respectively. The ÖAW is an institution under the special protection of the Republic of Austria (formed in 1921, with a history going back to 1713). Its mission is to promote the sciences and humanities in every respect and in every field, particularly in fundamental research.
